About Bo Hjelt

Background

Bo Hjelt is a Swedish citizen born in Finland in 1935, now residing in Stockholm after many years in Geneva. He completed his higher education in the USA at Indiana University, (with a Swedish-American Foundation Fellowship) as well as in the Geneva at the Swiss  university Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) and Centre d’Etudes Industrielles (MBA). He is an officer in the Swedish Army.

He started his business career in the 1960s

Bo Hjelt started his business career in the 1960s, when he held various qualified positions in Svenska Metallverken, a significant Swedish corporation within the non-ferrous metals industry, that later became part of the global Electrolux Group. After a year in Japan, Bo Hjelt returned to Europe as Sales and Marketing Director, Europe, and later as CEO, he lived in France, Germany and Belgium.

In 1973, Bo Hjelt founded the M&A industrial advisory company Corporate Development International (CDI) now CDI Global  which has 46 offices in 32 countries worldwide. He is Honorary Chairman of CDI Global.

In 2019 he was made Doctor Honoris Causa at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. The doctoral conferment ceremony was held in Lund on May 24, 2019.

Organizations

Bo Hjelt is and has been Member of the Board of a number of quoted companies and other organizations, for example Svenskar i Världen (“Swedes Overseas”), IMI Kiev, which is the first MBA school in Ukraine, and the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF).
