Research Grants

The Bo & Kerstin Hjelt Foundation for type 2 diabetes research was established in 2008 and has as a long-term goal to fund research to prevent and cure type 2 diabetes. The Foundation finances diabetes research at the Medical Faculties of Lund University, Sweden and Geneva University, Switzerland.

The Foundation solicits applications from young scientists with a PhD or MD degree on the way to independence. Applications from scientists with less than three years after the doctoral degree will not be considered. Applications from researchers with permanent positions are not accepted.

Preference will be given to novel projects rather than support for on-going research. The subsidy can cover salaries and/or costs for consumables including laboratory rodents. Equipment and other infrastructure will not be financed.

The application period for 2023 is 11 October – 15 December 2023.

Project funding beginning on April 1st, 2024.
